International English Language Testing System

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests English proficiency across the globe conducting 1.4 million tests globally. IELTS is the worlds most popular English testing system. IELTS respects international diversity and is fair to anyone who sits the test, regardless of nationality. IELTS tests the ability to speak, read, listen and write in English.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (or TOEFL, pronounced "toe-full") evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. It is an admission requirement for non-native English speakers at many English-speaking colleges and universities in USA and other countries. A TOEFL score is valid for two years. The TOEFL is administered by Educational Testing Services (ETS) and is conducted at many locations in India, as an internet based test.

The Graduate Management Admission Test

The GMAT exam is the assessment for Graduate Business School candidates - it was designed by Business Schools to measure the skills shown to help graduate business students succeed in the challenging curriculum. A computer adaptive exam that assesses Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing skills developed over time, the GMAT exam is a valid and reliable predictor of success in graduate business school.

Young Learners (YLE)

Young Learners is a series of fun, motivating English language tests, aimed at children in primary and lower-secondary education. There are three activity-based tests Starters, Movers and Flyers. This gives students a clear path to improve in English.

Our courses are divided into five age groups in order to ensure that classmates are of the same level of maturity and that they learn with lesson material best suited to their age:

  • 6-7 years Primary
  • 8-10 years Junior
  • 11-12 years Secondary
  • 13-14 years Middle Secondary
  • 15-17 years Secondary Academic

Learners within each age group are placed into levels from 1-5 based on their ability as determined by the result of a placement test. Learners placed into a level 1 course will have limited experience of English and a very basic level of competence, whereas learners placed into a level 5 course will have studied English for a number of years and be capable users of the language.

Key English Test (KET)

Key, also known as Key English Test (KET), is a basic level qualification that shows you can use English to communicate in simple situations. It shows you have made a good start in learning English.

There are two versions of KET available: KET and KET for Schools. The two versions are identical in test format and level of question papers. The test certificates for both are the same. The only difference is that the content and treatment of topics in KET for Schools have been particularly targeted at the interests of school children.

The Preliminary English Test

The Preliminary English Test (PETe) is an international examination sanctioning a certain level of mastery of the English language. It is the second easiest diploma offered by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations in England.

A preliminary exam consist of three main points: the focus, the ideas, and explanations.[citation needed] The exam consists of 3 papers: Reading and Writing, Listening and an oral examination. A total of 70% across the 3 papers is needed to pass the exam.

The level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to which the PET refers depend on the final result achieved: "Pass with Distinction" is Level B2 (only from September 2011) "Pass with Merit" and "Pass" equals Level B1 Level A2 in the case you don't achieve "Pass" but you achieved this.

Business English Certificates (BEC)

Business Certificates, also known as Business English Certificates (BEC), are a suite of three English language qualifications for international business.

Cambridge English: Business Preliminary (BEC Preliminary) CEFR Level B1

Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage) CEFR Level B2

Cambridge English: Business Higher (BEC Higher) CEFR Level C1

They will help you to achieve your ambitions to:

  1. work abroad
  2. work with international organisations in your own country
  3. study business-related subjects taught in English.

The First Certificate in English

The First Certificate in English (FCE) is one of the examinations available from University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations in England. Its possession proves one's adequacy in the English language, and its successful completion means that one is able to interact socially efficiently.[citation needed] The FCE examination falls in the grade A2, B1, B2 and C1. Its advantage is that its expiration date is throughout life.

The test consists of five sections:

  1. Reading
  2. Writing
  3. Use of English
  4. Listening
  5. Speaking

The overall FCE grade is based on the total score gained in all five papers. Each paper is weighted to 40 marks. Therefore, the five FCE papers total 200 marks, after weighting. It is not necessary to achieve a satisfactory level in all five papers in order to pass the examination. Certificates are given to candidates who pass the examinations with grade A, B or C. A is the highest. D and E are failing grades. All candidates are sent a Statement of Results which includes a graphical profile of their performance in each paper and shows their relative performance in each one.
